I turned down several gov't offers - GNL Zamba
Rapper Earnest Nsimbi, commonly known as GNL Zamba, has said he has had to turn down several offers from the government.
He made the revelation in his X post in which he was responding to a user who questioned his silence on the ongoing anti-corruption protests in the country.
In his response, GNL Zamba said he has raised his voice against corruption in many ways including through his music projects such as "Uganda Waffe" song.
"First artist to reject Tubonganawe project and money. Created an album about unity. Rejected several offers to join government. Song number nine on my last album is about a people fed up with corruption," he said.
"Career poet that represents and celebrates the culture of his people home and away but I still wake up in Los Angeles 10,000 miles away from home to this toxicity yet the people in the country affected directly left the streets empty," he added.
The rapper said that while he is away in the US, he is always with the people of Uganda back home in their fight against corruption.
This week, a section of Ugandan took to the streets to raise their displeasure against corruption in the country.
Others including celebrities have also taken to social media to join their fans in condemning corruption and bad governance in the country.
Celebrities including Allan Toniks, Azawi, Ykee Benda have been taking to social media to express solidarity with Ugandans in condemning corruption and abuse of power.
