Muslims in Bukomansimbi ask for Islamic bank, agriculture support
Sheikh Galabuzzi hands over translated Holy Qurans to Muslim leaders

Muslims in Bukomansimbi have appealed to the Super Supreme Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzzi, to help them to join the Islamic bank and get loans that do not have interests.

The appeal was made during Sheikh Galabuzzi's three-day visit to the district, where he engaged with various stakeholders, including cooperatives, schools, and religious institutions.

Sheikh Galabuzzi interacted with members of the Muslim community, listening to their concerns and aspirations. At the Kibinge Coffee Cooperative Society, Bukomansimbi Muslims, led by Bukomansimbi Supreme Khadhi Sheikh Muhammad Ssenyondo and coffee farmers chairperson Soweedi Sserwadda, emphasized the significance of Islamic banking.

They expressed the need for access to financial services that align with Islamic principles, particularly highlighting the importance of borrowing money without interest.

The community believes that Islamic banking will not only facilitate their economic empowerment but also enable them to provide better support to their families.

Ssenyondo seized the opportunity to request the Supreme Mufti's intervention in securing agricultural resources for the community.

Specifically, he urged the Mufti to convey their plea to government officials, particularly in the Ministry of Agriculture, to acquire a tractor.

This, he emphasized, would greatly enhance agricultural productivity in Bukomansimbi, consequently promoting economic growth and food security in the district.

Despite the myriad challenges faced by the community, Sheikh Galabuzzi encouraged them to prioritize cooperation through cooperatives as a crucial avenue for self-development.

He underscored the importance of collective efforts in overcoming obstacles and advancing communal prosperity.

Addressing broader societal issues, Sheikh Galabuzzi highlighted the importance of reclaiming Muslim properties such as land that was unjustly taken from the Muslim community.

He urged Muslims to stand firm in reclaiming their rights and assets, signalling a call to action against injustice and oppression.

The mufti emphasised the significance of zakat, urging Muslims not to neglect its collection. He stressed the importance of transparency in managing zakat funds to ensure that they are utilized for the betterment of the community, in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him during his visit, Sheikh Galabuzzi urged the Muslim community to intensify efforts in promoting religious education in schools.

He emphasized that a well-grounded religious upbringing would contribute to the development of morally upright individuals, thereby fostering a harmonious and sensible society.

In a gesture of goodwill, the Super Supreme Mufti left the community with a translation of the Quran in Luganda, encouraging them to delve deeper into Islamic teachings.

He assured them of his continued support and vowed to return soon to further engage with the community and assess progress on their shared endeavours.
