The UK High Commissioner to Uganda, Lisa Chesney, has praised the strong historical ties between Uganda and the United Kingdom, highlighting the training of Ugandan officers at the prestigious Sandhurst Military Academy as a vital element of this partnership.

Having just completed her first month in the role, Chesney noted the warmth of her welcome in Uganda, calling it the most memorable of her diplomatic career.

Addressing guests at a celebration in honor of King Charles III’s birthday, hosted at the High Commissioner’s residence in Nakasero, Chesney expressed gratitude for the continued bond between the two nations.

She specifically thanked Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a Sandhurst alumnus, for attending the event, underscoring the academy’s role in shaping Uganda’s military leadership.

The ceremony attracted key figures from Uganda’s government, military, and civil society, as well as representatives from various embassies and high commissions.

This longstanding partnership, built on mutual cooperation, continues to see the UK support Uganda’s priorities in development, education, and defense.
