Uganda has hosted the Rotaract Africa Summit for the first time at the Las Vegas Garden Hotel,Bunga in Kampala.

The event brought together over 290 delegates from 19 African countries and was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament,  Thomas Tayebwa.

In his keynote address, Tayebwa encouraged Rotaracters to take on leadership roles that inspire meaningful change in their communities.

“Lead with vision, serve with purpose, and inspire action,” he urged, emphasizing the importance of community service in shaping Africa’s future.

The summit was held under the theme 'Unleashing Africa's potential with Rotaracters', a reflection of the organization’s commitment to fostering youth leadership and innovation.

This year’s event marked a significant milestone as Ugandan Allan Ntambi Lukoda assumed the presidency of the Rotaract Africa Multi-District Information Organization, a continental leadership role.

Rotarian Anne Nkutu, District Governor 9213, which oversees Uganda, highlighted the transformative power of Rotaract and Rotary communities.

She called on Ugandans and Africans to join such networks, describing them as platforms for growth, learning, and empowerment.

“The Rotaract community provides an opportunity for personal and professional development while giving back to society,” Nkutu noted.

District Rotaract Representative Simeo Sebukulu representative 9213 also emphasized the significance of hosting the Rotaract presidency in Uganda.

He explained that this development comes with immense opportunities, not only for Rotaracters but also for Ugandans beyond the organization.

“Having the presidency here means more visibility for Uganda and more chances for our youth to connect, learn, and lead on a global scale. Also, there is quite a number of delegates that will come to Uganda and this will bring us exposure in terms of tourism,” Sebukulu said.
