Mr Museveni toured various departments of the hub, including tailoring and shoemaking, observing hands-on training provided to local youths.
“This is the future of Uganda,” Museveni declared, stressing the importance of equipping young people with skills to create their own jobs rather than waiting for external opportunities.
The Nakabango hub is part of the broader PDM initiative, which focuses on alleviating poverty and boosting grassroots economic productivity.
The facility offers practical training in trades such as tailoring and shoemaking, which are in high demand and have the potential to spur local economic growth.
Highlighting the transformative potential of vocational skills, Museveni underscored the hub’s role in fostering entrepreneurship.
“With these skills, you can make shoes, clothes, and much more. You can then employ others and grow your business,” he said, urging Ugandans to leverage such opportunities to contribute to national development.
The skilling hub is envisioned as a tool to empower communities by breaking cycles of poverty and dependency, replacing them with self-reliance and innovation.
By investing in vocational training, the government aims to position Uganda’s labour market to meet the challenges of a modern economy while uplifting communities at the grassroots level.
