UBOS Executive Director Dr. Chris Mukiza emphasized the importance of the census in national development.
"This report assures stakeholders of high-quality official statistics for informed planning, decision-making, and public debate," he said in a statement.
The bureau announced plans to release additional monographs within six months.
These will include detailed analyses such as the Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index and profiles for sub-counties and parishes, offering deeper insights into the data collected.
Conducted under the theme "It Matters to be Counted," the 2024 census aims to provide accurate demographic and socio-economic statistics essential for addressing Uganda’s development challenges and opportunities.
Stakeholders can access the full report online as Uganda looks to leverage these statistics for sustainable growth and development initiatives.
In October 2024, UBOS acknowledged errors in the 2024 census results, particularly regarding population figures by tribe and religion.
The admission followed public criticism, with many accusing the statistics body of manipulating data.
Officials from UBOS explained that the error occurred during the compilation of the final report, resulting in incorrect data being presented, particularly about the tribal population.
They clarified that the 2024 census figures were accurate but data from the 2014 census had been misreported, causing a mix-up that affected percentage calculations.
An official emphasized that nearly all major tribes registered growth, contradicting the earlier report.
