A collaborative operation aimed at dismantling drug networks in Goma Division led to the arrest of 36 suspects and the seizure of narcotics in Kagala Zone.

The joint operation, conducted by police, UPDF, intelligence agencies, and local council vigilantes, took place on October 31, between midnight and 4am, targeting areas notorious for drug-related activities.

During the sweep, 36 male suspects were apprehended at identified black spots, where marijuana—allegedly used and distributed by the suspects—was recovered.

All suspects are currently held at Goma Police Station and are expected to face legal proceedings soon.

Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango emphasized that the operation highlights law enforcement's dedication to disrupting criminal networks and enhancing community safety.

He further noted that additional intelligence-led operations are planned in the coming weeks to sustain security efforts in the area.
