Senior police officer cross examined in Katanga case
Ms Molly Katanga, accused of the murder of her husband Henry Katanga

The trial of Molly Katanga over the alleged murder of her husband, Henry Katanga resumed on Tuesday at the High Court in Kampala.

During the Tuesday session, the police forensic director, Andrew Mubiru was cross examined by defence lawyers on his role in gathering and examination of forensic evidence.

During the cross examination, defence lawyers  inquired deeply into the forensic evidence, including DNA samples from the deceased and the prime suspect in the case, Molly Katanga.

The witness was presented with a toy pistol to help him explain how the evidence linked to the gun allegedly used to kill Katanga.

The prosecution argued, based on the evidence collected from the bedroom, that there was a severe domestic brawl leading to severe injuries, as blood was found on the ceiling, curtains, floor and sink.

The police investigator confirmed that the blood had Molly Katanga’s DNA, suggesting she had been brutally assaulted, although the prosecution refuted all these claims.

The case was adjourned to today, Wednesday.

Whereas Mrs Katanga attends court virtually from Luzira prison, the four other accused persons including  her daughters her two daughters Martha Nkwanzi and Patricia Kakwanzi, Shamba boy George Amanyire and nursing officer Charles Otai appear in court physically.
