Police hunt for officer who shot driver dead during altercation in Kampala

The shooter is currently on the run
Police have broken the silence about the shooting in Kampala in which a driver was shot dead during an altercation.
According to Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke said the Monday afternoon incident happened at around 2pm along Ssezibwa Road when Police Constable Charles Bahati got involved in an altercation with Julius Ssemwaka, the driver of vehicle, registration number UAX 480C.

“During the altercation, Bahati opened fire fatally wounding Ssemwaka. The police responded promptly to the scene, securing and collecting evidence to aid in the investigation,” Rusoke said.
He however said the shooter has not yet been arrested since he took off following the fatal shooting.
“Efforts are underway to apprehend him and recover the suspected firearm as investigations continue.”
Of late, cases of shootings had gone down and the latest is the first in many months, especially involving police officers.
It is however not understood why the law and enforcement officer turned violent and killed the driver.
