KAABONG | Security forces in the Karamoja district of Kaabong have fatally shot a notorious armed warrior wanted for disturbing the peace in the sub-region.

Lotuko Adupa was shot and killed as he attempted to flee after his capture, security said.

He had a bow and five arrows in his possession at the time of arrest.

However, Adupa's gang-mate, Lokeny, managed to evade capture and remains at large, reportedly armed with a gun.

The two were captured following a coordinated cordon-and-search operation early on Thursday April 25 in Mamuk Village, Lois Parish in Kathile South Sub County

The operation, initiated based on intelligence, targeted Adupa and Lokeny, who have long been on the wanted list.

Adupa and Lokeny have been implicated in various incidents of unrest and violence in Kaabong and surrounding districts, prompting law enforcement to intensify efforts to bring them to justice.

Police spokesperson for Karamoja, Mike Longole, said the hunt for Lokeny continues and urged any member of the public with information on his whereabouts to report to security forces.
