Keep your focus on education, Bishop Gad tells boys
Bishop Gad Akanjuna

The Bishop of Kigezi Diocese, the Right Reverend Gaddie Akanjuna, has challenged young boys in Kabale District to prioritise education over the allure of quick-money jobs.

In a heartfelt address delivered today during the dedication of a remarkable new building housing eight classrooms at Rugarama School of Nursing and Midwifery, Bishop Akanjuna underscored the pressing need for a shift in mindset among boys.

Highlighting a concerning trend of boys dropping out of school in pursuit of immediate financial gain, Bishop Akanjuna lamented the dwindling number of boys enrolled in educational institutions compared to girls.

He emphasised the critical importance of acquiring education as a foundation for sustainable success, cautioning against the limitations of chasing quick riches without the backing of formal qualifications.

Bishop Akanjuna urged the male students at Rugarama School of Nursing and Midwifery to remain steadfast in their educational pursuits, regardless of external pressures or temptations.

He said the enduring value of academic credentials and encouraged the boys to persevere in their studies, irrespective of the allure of short-term gains.

Michael Kenneth Bekunda, representing the school management board chairperson, and Eng Peter Nkurunungi, the director of Gesis Uganda Limited, echoed the sentiment of prioritising the safety and longevity of the newly constructed building.

They emphasised the importance of implementing preventive maintenance measures to ensure the structural integrity and functionality of the facility for years to come.

Eng Nkurunungi, reflecting on the 10-month duration of the Shs660 million project , pledged to oversee the completion of any remaining tasks to ensure the seamless utilisation of the entire building.
