Opposition political party Justice Forum chairperson Kibirige Muhammad Mayanja has admitted working with NRM amidst a fallout with other party members.

Mayanja says they are happy with the relationship with the ruling government, revealing it is one they are good to strengthen should the NRM commit to deal with some of the shortcomings like human rights abuses, having a affair electoral commission, among others.

"There are certain things you can't run away from, like working together," said Mayanja, former president of the party that has always been better known by its acronym, JEEMA.

JEEMA has been in operation for close to 30 years now. Mayanja says their core principles were justice in human rights, land, job sharing, among others

"There are national interests which affect everybody and whether you like it or not any move towards addressing those national efforts can only be effective if it's led by the government," he said.

The former presidential candidate says they are happy to further commit their relation with the NRM should the government improve some of these things.

This comes as the public raises questions about the mode of operations of the party, nearly 30 years since it was formed.

There are also questions on the party's leadership with the party constitution running without term limits for the party’s top position.

Despite all this, Mayanja is happy with the direction the party is taking. According to Kibirige, the priority of the party leadership is survival as taking the national leadership may not come as fast as is expected.
