Police have recruited 179 potential probationer police constables from Omoro, Amuru, Nwoya, and Gulu City.

The recruitment drive, part of a countrywide exercise initiated on Monday, May 6, aims to bolster the force's capacity in preparation for the 2026 general elections.

Aswa West police spokesperson David Ongom Mudong underscored the significance of this recruitment initiative.

"This recruitment drive is crucial to enhancing our operational capabilities and ensuring effective community policing strategies," Mudong said.

However, amidst the selection process, concerns emerged regarding the authenticity of documents submitted by some applicants.

"In Amuru and Nwoya, we are investigating two individuals who presented forged documents," revealed Mudong.

This discovery highlights the rigorous vetting process undertaken to maintain the integrity of the recruitment procedure.

The recruitment exercise concluded in Amuru district, where Mudong commended the diligence of the selection committee.

"We have meticulously assessed each applicant to ensure that only the most qualified candidates are chosen," he affirmed.

This strategic recruitment effort not only aims to strengthen law enforcement but also signifies a proactive approach by the Uganda Police Force in anticipation of the upcoming electoral events.
