He explained the objectives of engaging in community work and urged locals in the municipality to maintain proper sanitation.
"When our local people see men in uniform cleaning the town, it sends a signal that sanitation is important, and they learn from it. So, I encourage our people to always keep Mubende clean," said Birungi.
Martin Kalekyeezi, the District Police Commander (DPC) for Mubende, together with Lt. John Kahiindi Francis, the Manager of the Defence Shop, Mubende Branch, appreciated the strong relationship between the Mubende community and security forces.
"We are celebrating Tarehe Sita as well as thanking our people for their good working relationship because the police and the army work together. But we also want to encourage our people to always maintain cleanliness," Kalekyeezi said.
Andrew Solomon Musiindi, the Assistant RDC for Mubende in charge of Kassambya County, noted that President Museveni has changed the image of security, making it easier for people to interact with security personnel.
"During Amin's regime, people would see a uniformed security officer and run away because they were not friendly. But today, I saw a soldier politely asking a woman to move her belongings so he could clean. This creates a strong belief in people's minds," said Musiindi.
Musiindi also emphasized that the culture of cleaning the town is continuous.
"This is not the first time our officers have cleaned the town because whenever it is Tarehe Sita, our men engage in cleaning, and we shall continue doing the same," he added.
Deogracious Kabudono, a resident of Mubende Municipality, thanked the government and the NRM for their love for the people.
"It is unbelievable to see security officers cleaning the town, and I want to thank the NRM for this. Soldiers used to be very frightening, but now we enjoy being with them," said Kabudono.
