Lubowa Hospital Project on Track for Completion by April

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has expressed optimism about the progress of the Lubowa Hospital project, describing the ongoing works as "very impressive."
During a recent parliamentary session, Tayebwa informed members that over 700 young people are working tirelessly at the site, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to ensure timely delivery of the facility.
The contractor has committed to completing all structural works by April 2025.
“I have visited the site twice, once on a Sunday and another time on a Wednesday. I interacted with the young people working there, and I can confirm that the pace of work is commendable. The contractor assured me that structural works would be completed by April next year,” Tayebwa said.
In addition to Tayebwa's remarks, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja called on Parliament to approve an additional Shs53.119 billion for the hospital to ensure the project's completion within the stipulated timeframe.
She revealed that the project is currently 61.8% complete in terms of physical works and highlighted significant progress in other areas, such as staff training and equipment procurement.
“Colleagues, I am reliably informed that all the equipment required for the hospital has been manufactured and procured," Nabbanja said.
"The medical staff who will work there are undergoing specialized training in Italy. The contractor is working day and night, and I request that we provide the necessary funding to ensure completion by April 2025."
The Lubowa Hospital project, envisioned as a state-of-the-art health facility, has faced numerous challenges and public scrutiny in the past.
However, these updates suggest significant strides toward its realization. Once complete, the hospital is expected to transform healthcare delivery in Uganda, offering specialized medical services and reducing the need for citizens to seek treatment abroad.
