CNOOC Uganda has launched the launch of Kingfisher Bunyoro youth engagement, a series of sports tournaments aimed at identifying youth talents in Bunyoro.
The tournaments launched in collaboration with Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom will be spread throughout the whole month of December 2024.

The selection of the teams was undertaken in partnership with Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom that supported to identify and select youth teams from the 15 counties of the 8 districts of Kikuube, Hoima, Masindi, Buliisa, Kiryandongo, Kakumiro, Kibaale and Kagadi.
A total of 25 matches will be played during the preliminaries and 3 shall be played during the finals making a total of 28 matches.
“This event shall demonstrate the power of sports as a unifying force, bringing together diverse members of the Bunyoro community, partners, and stakeholders. Through sports, we are not just playing games, we are building futures, fostering dialogue, and showcasing how collaboration can lead to sustainable development," said Ma Peixin, the vice president of CNOOC Uganda.
"We are proud to spearhead in this initiative. We firmly believe that building partnerships through such meaningful activities not only strengthens community ties but also lays a strong foundation for long- term progress of the oil and gas industry.”
Andrew Byakutuga Ateenyi, the Prime Minister, Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom hailed CNOOC for its continued support to the kingdom.
"It is about more than just the sport; but also preparing our youth for opportunities in the oil and gas sector and beyond," he said.
Since 2012, CNOOC Uganda Limited has implemented various corporate social responsibility projects in the fields of education, health, sports and disaster times.
