Katakwi NRM Loyalist Nabbed With Stolen Goats
The suspect was apprehended while attempting to sell the animals at Ochorimogin Cattle Market.

The suspect, recognised for his frequent appearances in yellow NRM T-shirts, allegedly stole four goats from Jane Francis Achor, a resident of Apeleun Village.

Peter Emorwoit, a well-known supporter of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Katakwi, has been arrested after being caught red-handed with stolen goats.

The suspect, recognised for his frequent appearances in yellow NRM T-shirts, allegedly stole four goats from Jane Francis Achor, a resident of Apeleun Village.

He was apprehended while attempting to sell the animals at Ochorimogin Cattle Market.

According to police, the theft was uncovered when vigilant residents informed Achor about the suspicious activity. Acting on the tip, Achor reported the matter to authorities, leading to Emorwoit's arrest.

“I was devastated to find my goats missing,” Achor said. “I’m grateful to the community and the police for their quick response in recovering them.”

Karamoja Police Spokesperson Mike Longole confirmed the incident, commending the cooperation between the Uganda Police Force and the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF).

“The joint security forces acted swiftly to apprehend the suspect at the market,” Longole said. “Emorwoit is now in custody as investigations proceed.”

The incident has prompted security forces to urge livestock owners to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities.

“We call on farmers to stay alert and work closely with security agencies to curb livestock theft,” Longole said. “Such partnerships are essential in ensuring the safety of communities.”
