The serene grounds of Nsambya Gardens came alive with harmony and hope as Rotarians and peace enthusiasts gathered for the highly anticipated Africa Peace Concert 2025.

This remarkable event, graced by esteemed guests, served as a powerful reminder of Rotary International's unwavering commitment to fostering peace and sustainable development across the globe.

At the heart of the evening was Dr. Stephanie A. Urchick, Rotary International President (2024-2025), who honored Uganda with her presence.

Dr. Urchick lauded Uganda’s warm hospitality, affirming why the country is known as the Pearl of Africa.

“Peace is at the very core of our organization,” she said.

“We work tirelessly to create environments where peace can thrive. Rotary addresses the causes of conflict and remains committed to building peace worldwide.”

The concert, held to raise funds for the Makerere Peace Centre, was a resounding success.

The center, a beacon of hope and unity, symbolizes Rotary’s dedication to creating environments where peace can flourish. The funds raised will play a critical role in sustaining the center’s programs and its vision of fostering global peace.

The evening’s performances featured a unique band comprised entirely of Rotarians, led by celebrated members like Ham Mulira.

Their soothing voices and captivating melodies served as a reminder of the universal language of music and its ability to bridge divides, inspire understanding, and unite communities.

Adding to the joy was the highly anticipated Blue 3 reunion, whose electrifying performance was a testament to the enduring power of unity through music.

The Africa Peace Concert celebrated not only music and culture but also individual contributions to Rotary’s mission.

Among the honorees was Julie Kariisa, President of Rotary Kibuli, who was bestowed the prestigious title of Benefactor by the Trustees of the Rotary Foundation. Her unwavering support and selfless commitment to Rotary’s cause were lauded by all in attendance.

The evening also recognized clubs that made significant contributions to the event.

The Rotary Club of Muyenga emerged as the top contributor, with a remarkable attendance of 45 members, earning them the winner’s title.

The Rotary Club of Kampala Metropolitan, which chaired the peace concert, also received accolades for their leadership, while RC Muyenga Sunday Sunset secured the second runner-up position with 12 attendees.

Key speakers at the event, including District Governors Agnes Batengas and Ann Nkutu and Ijeoma, Trustee of the Rotary Foundation, emphasized the importance of individual action in fostering peace.

“Each one of us holds the power to make a difference,” they echoed. From small gestures like smiling to large-scale initiatives, every effort contributes to building the peace our world so urgently needs.

The concert also highlighted the work of Rotary’s 1,800 Peace Fellows across the globe. Their dedication to addressing the root causes of conflict and promoting peace resonated throughout the night.
