The Ministry of Public Service is concerned that the Shs74 billion required to compensate the over 2,000 people to be affected by the rationalisation process has not been prioritised in the next financial year budget 2024/2025.

Public Service minister Mululi Mukasa told legislators on Public Service and Local Government Committee that failure by the Ministry of Finance to provide the money could result into the delay in implementing merger of government agencies.

The Ministry of Public Service led by the Minister Mululi Mukasa on Monday appeared before the Committee of Public Service and Local Government to present their budget estimate for the financial year 2024/2025.

According to Muruli, not all employee in the government entities that are to be merged are going to be affected.

Those that are to be affected include different Board members, drivers, secretaries among others.

On the issue of the establishment of the Salary Review Board, the minister says they have finalized the process and its only remaining with the cabinet approval.
