The Super Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzzi, has urged Muslims to consider sterilisation as a means to better care for and prepare their children.

Speaking during his visit to Bukomansimbi District, Sheikh Galabuzzi highlighted the pressing issue of children dropping out of school.

He urged parents to keep their children in school to check the rising number of early pregnancies and young mothers in Bukomansimbi.

“You leave the school-going child at home saying that you do not have money and since this child does not have things that can make her busy she starts looking here and there and you find her pregnant at the age of 15, 16 which is bad,” Galabuzzi said.

Addressing various institutions, including Kitanda Prison, Kitanda Health Centre IV, among others, Galabuzzi reiterated the call for sterilisation, urging the Muslims faithful to responsibly plan their families to ensure they can adequately provide for their children's needs.

He emphasised the importance of family planning, saying giving rapid births is not good and parents should practice child spacing.

Sheikh Galabuzzi also took the opportunity to critique elected leaders within Islam, urging them to remain humble and focused on serving the community rather than assuming they have completed their duties.

The visit garnered support from local authorities, with Bukomansimbi RDC Steven Nfashingabo advocating for increased charitable efforts, particularly in the construction of mosques, seen as vital centers for guiding the community.

The Bukomansimbi Woman MP, Ms Veronica Nanyondo, echoed the importance of parental guidance, urging parents to safeguard their children, especially during holidays, and provide them with strong religious education.

As Super Supreme Mufti continues his visit to the district, his message resonates with the community, sparking discussions on family planning and the role of Islam in guiding its followers towards a prosperous and harmonious future.
