The British High Commissioner to Uganda, Lisa Chesney, paid a courtesy call to the Buganda Kingdom on Wednesday, where the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, received her at Bulange, Mengo.

The visit celebrated the long-standing relationship between the United Kingdom, Uganda, and the Buganda Kingdom, with both leaders reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting development and mutual cooperation.

During their private meeting, which was closed to the media, the two leaders discussed critical areas of collaboration, particularly programs designed to uplift youth and women in Buganda.

Addressing the press afterward, the Katikkiro praised the historic ties between the Buganda Kingdom and the British Royal Family.

“Our partnership with the British Royal Family has been instrumental in advancing development, especially initiatives aimed at empowering youth and women. We are committed to further strengthening these collaborations for the benefit of our people,” said Katikkiro Mayiga.

Ms Chesney echoed these sentiments, commending the Buganda Kingdom for its dedication to progress.

“The enduring relationship between the United Kingdom and the Buganda Kingdom is built on mutual respect and a shared vision for development. Together, we will continue to champion initiatives that create opportunities for youth and women,” she stated.
