Masaza Cup: Kyagwe unveils Gaddafi's Mutono as head coach

MUKONO | Buganda Kingdom's Masaza Cup side Kyagwe have appointed Uganda Premier League tactician David Mutono Katono as their head couch for this year's competition.

Mutono brings a wealth of experience and an impressive track record in Uganda premier league football, making him a valuable to Kyagwe Fc.

Mutono replaces William Kyeswa, who was sacked due to series of poor results in last year's Masaza competition.

Mutono is not new at Kyagwe, having previously served as a head couch in 2016 where they were kicked out in the semifinals. His immediate task is to get Kyagwe to the final.

Inside the Kyagwe County boardroom, the new coach was introduced to along with his technical team to the Sekiboobo, Vincent Matovu.

The Kyagwe chairman, Stephen Serubula, said their major aim is to win the trophy, adding that this season Kyagwe will host its matches at Buikwe and Mukono so that they cater for the fans in both districts.

Vincent Matovu, the Kyagwe County chief, implored the team officials to exhibit transparency while management the funds by accounting for the money such as paying the players and coaches.

He said this will lead to good performance as well reducing chaos in the camp.

Mutono pledged deliver as long as there is team work among all stake holders, he noted that he has added on the experience not like in 2016.

“I pledge good performance of the players because they have given me authority to scout players of my choice, with team work we will take the trophy,” he said.

Mutono will be assisted in the Kyagwe technical area by Kintu Mwera, as assistant couch, and Billy Lukoda as goalkeeping couch.
